Mr Julian Weir   BE (hons), ME, CPEng, MIPENZ, IntPE (NZ)

Julian Weir is a senior engineer and team leader (Water and Land) with Aqualinc Research Ltd.  Julian has worked at Aqualinc since it was established approximately 13 years ago,and has over 21 years’ experience as a civil engineering consultant and hydrogeologist.  His expertise in groundwater encompasses engineering, groundwater modelling (both flow and transport), aquifer testing, prediction of groundwater-surface water interactions, water resource studies and general resource management.  He has conducted, directed and/or analysed numerous aquifer tests, particularly those in complex hydrogeological settings.  He has developed regional-scale groundwater models for several catchments around New Zealand including Canterbury, Wairau, Motueka, Waimea, Upper Waikato and Ruataniwha.  He has also worked with Dr Rutter using numerical models to test hypotheses of groundwater responses to earthquakes.  Julian is a Chartered Professional Engineer (CPEng), a professional Member of IPENZ (MIPENZ), an International Professional Engineer (IntPE) and a member of the New Zealand Hydrological Society.  Julian completed his Master of Engineering degree in 2000 under the direction of Dr Bruce Hunt, during which he tested methods for analysing stream depletion from groundwater pumping.
