Prof Bernie Kueper   Ph.D., P.Eng.

Dr. Kueper is a licensed professional engineer and an internationally recognized hydrogeologist with expertise in the area of soil and groundwater contamination by organic compounds (chlorinated solvents, creosote, coal tar, PCBs and fuels), groundwater hydraulics, and subsurface remediation.  He received his Ph.D. in hydrogeology from the University of Waterloo in 1989 and joined the faculty at Queen’s University in 1990 where he is employed at the rank of Professor.  Dr. Kueper’s expertise is focused on the behavior and remediation of contaminants in fractured rock as wells as unconsolidated deposits such as clays, silts and sands.  Dr. Kueper is a former Associate Editor of the Journal of Ground Water, the Journal of Contaminant Hydrology and the Canadian Geotechnical Journal.  Dr. Kueper has provided professional short courses and training seminars on the topics of soil and groundwater contamination, groundwater hydraulics, and subsurface remediation to various regulatory agencies and private groups worldwide.  He is the lead editor of the recently published textbook ‘Chlorinated Solvent Source Zone Remediation’.  In addition to teaching and research, Dr. Kueper has 25 years of experience as an expert consultant at sites in several countries, and has worked on several sites in Australia in the capacity of a technical consultant, and as a testifying expert at court.
